Background:
HIV/AIDS is major public health problem, socio-economic burden and serious threat to life of youth of developing countries. Globally only a small number of HIV infections are estimated to have occurred during the later 1970s, at this time HIV prevalence increased remarkably in Sub Saharan Africa and Asia Pacific. Although HIV was introduced into Asia Pacific countries during the early to mid 1980s and by the early 1990s; HIV was spreading rapidly within the region.
Young people (10-24 years) constitute about 32% of total population of the world. The recent behavioural data indicate the increasing vulnerability of young people to HIV/AIDS in terms of a widening geographical and cultural gap between emerging new values, norms and traditions. Creating awarness among young people about HIV/AIDS and reproductive health is crucial first step for behaviour change.
